John Charles Thomas, trumpet, joined the CBC in 2001. He is an active performer and teacher in New York. John's appearances as a soloist and chamber musician have taken him around the U.S., and to Europe, Asia, and Canada. Originally from Springfield, Ohio, he is currently the principal trumpet with the Ridgefield Symphony (CT), Waterbury Symphony (CT) and associate principal trumpet with the Queens Symphony (NYC). John has performed frequently and recorded with the New York Philharmonic, the New York Cornet and Sacbut Ensemble, Solisti New York, Trier Bach Soloists (Germany), Vienna Symphony, L’Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Bermuda Philharmonic, Dave Brubeck, and The Temptations. His solo appearances have included performances of Bach’s 2nd Brandenburg Concerto, the Haydn and Hummel Trumpet Concertos, and Copland’s “Quiet City” among others. He has been heard on National Public Radio, The Today Show, and 60 Minutes. Dr. Thomas has taught at Ithaca and Marist Colleges, and presently teaches trumpet at Bard College. John is a Bach trumpet performing artist. |
