Chestnut Brass Company tours El Salvador
Tweet

From April 3-9, 2011, the Chestnut Brass Company performed in El Salvador, a country full of wonderful friendly people.

The program for this tour was American Voices, highlighting the influences on American culture by North, Central and South American composers.

Much of the program featured new folksong arrangements by tuba-ist Jay Krush.  Also included were arrangements of jazz tunes such as Do You Know what it Means to Miss New Orleans, Steppin' Out with my Baby and other tunes from the American musical stage.

Lois Vierk's work, Sunbow, was presented at a Listen Up program for the Youth Orchestra of El Salvador and recieved numerous positive comments.

Member of the Chestnut Brass Company also gave individual masterclasses on trumpet, horn, trombone and tuba.

It was a whirlwind week with television interviews and performances as well as nearly a dozen concert presentations.

Most importantly, the Chestnut Brass Company members felt they made new friends in a new country and can't wait to visit again.
